Idiomachine 20

Urealisert konkurransebidrag fra januar, 2008 til NOTAMs lydkunstutstilling Absorpsjon og resonans på Henie Onstad Kunstsenter

Project description: Idiomachine 20

Practical description

A backline of drumkit, guitar + effects + amp, bass + effects + amp and electronic equipment

conected to effects and mixers are set up in a 2,5 x 2,5 quadratic soundclosed glasscube. There are microphones connected to each instruments amp + one overhead mic in the middel of the cube. The microphones are connected to a mixtable outside, witch is connected to listening stations with headphones for the audience.

Microphones (contact mics and shure mics witch invite the audience to interact)on the outside of the cube, are transferring sound into the cube with amps.

The sound from the amp(s) witch will be very loud, are creating vibrations in the instruments and the electronic equipments, and makes sound.

Soon, when the vibrations and frequences affects the electronics and the instruments it will be created a cacophony inside the cube.

The sound from the cube are now transferred by an overhead mic to the mixing table, and then send out to the listening stations.

It will be created a soundbow, where the microphones on the outside of the cube gives the audience an oppertunity to interact.

Each soundbow will last for 20 minuts, and each sequence is a piece of work. After 20 min. the equipment are turned off with a electric timer.

Each sequence will be recorded (and distributed to the audience).

This is an Idiomachine. Electronics and microphones creates expressions the listeners will recognise as significant in music. The idioms represents sound like it is organised in rock, noise and avant-garde music.
